Teimiss, or Tye to his friends (Not that he had many of them anymore,) was a gruff man his appearance was almost degrading and his scruffy demeanour instantly put others uneasy around him. His life had not been an easy one, but he never really chose to complain; instead he live in an almost silence to the world and left life pass him by. It hadn’t always been that way of course. The first ten years of his life, in fact, had been the best he could ever remember; or hope for. His father had been a fisherman in the port of Phishend, his mother never needed to work as the fish trade provided everything they needed. On the tenth year of his life Tye saw the death of his father; a fishing accident in stormy weather. Without the money to feed Tye his mother lowered herself to scrounging and accepting the handouts of her friends; it eventually grew worse as she started to find solace within the bottle. She used men for nothing but the money they’d give her for her services.
He left that life and never looked back; he often wondered if his mother had ever noticed her Son no longer being around. He eventually found a man named Loskier, a wizard, who lived on the outskirts of town. He took young Tye in; he gave him a stable home and made a living by selling his magic to the merchants who would pass by on an almost daily basis. For the next seven years Tye started to feel at home, he started to enjoy himself and thing became normal. The Wizard taught him things from tomes of magic and taught him about the arcane. Tye soon found he had a gift for such knowledge and understanding; even managing to learn the Elven language by his 15th birthday.
Tye, however, showed no magical ability that Loskier did; he could not command the arcane and instead of following Loskier’s footsteps, he joined the Kings Army. The army gave him a bed, money of his own and rigid rules and stability and a facade of never ending happiness. He was eventually enrolled into the King’s Guard but soon grew bored of the mind numbing routine and waiting as nothing happened. He found he was brighter than those around him and soon his head was noticed above the others and, at age 20, given a second in command post to a patrol around the woods.
Two years later, and after much hard work, he was given his own command; 6 men would look up to him for answers. He had been given the task of investigating the disappearance of certain caravans on their way to Tishmat. His investigation soon brought him to the conclusion that the bandit group “warriors of kell” were to blame for the attacks. So it was with their heads held high he marched his men toward their camp – but it wasn’t long before everything changed and that chapter of his life was closed.
They had expected to enter the clearing and catch the bandits unawares, but they soon found that wasn’t the case and it became an even fight. Within minutes two of his six men were killed and a mere few minutes later only Tye and his second in command were left alive, facing the bandit leader. The battle was fierce, Kell had superior skill but against two it was an even match. Eventually Tye felt a surge of power, a crackling of immense strength and flung himself at his enemy, his sword a glow with blue sparks. In that moment there was a flash of lightning and next Tye knew he was alone; before him the dead body of Kell still surrounded by the flickering blue lightning; but beside him lay his second in command he too surrounded by the flicker of blue lightning.
It was with a heavy heart Tye left that field and never looked back, he later burned his uniform and instead brought leather armour with his left over savings. Though those savings didn’t last long, and after months of Whores, Drink and bar fights he was left with nothing but a terribly dark past and a mind that wanted anything but life. Hearing about a job with a local Caravan, who lost a man due to illness, he signed up and decided to move away; as if to put his worries and troubles behind him by leaving. The caravan travelled north through the Elven town of Elmtyme and further north to Tishmat where his whole life took on a new chapter: one he wanted to get right, the one chance, he knew, to change everything.
